Direct responsibility for performing and overseeing the predictive and preventive maintenance on equipment, facilities, processes and systems that support the achievement of overall safety and business objectivesfor the manufacturing plant.


  • Serves asa Merchants Metals safety champion in every activity. Proactively identifies potentially unsafe situations and immediately resolves and/or raises awareness to the appropriate individual(s).
  • Develops, implements, sustains, & continuously improves processes that deliver results meeting or exceeding business targets related to equipment performance, production performance, uptime, preventative maintenance, and facilities.
  • Direct supervision and guidance to front-line maintenance associates. Coordinates, organizes and actively participates in daily maintenance activities with the team of technicians.Completes performance reviews, merit increases, associate development plans and disciplinary action if needed.
  • Performs highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment.
  • Acts as a driver of safety providing ideas, insights, highlighting risks and influencing others to address safety issues. Implements risk mitigating activities and improvements.
  • Maintains alignment to the business goals and provides ongoing needed support from maintenance team across the site.
  • Manages the maintenance of the forklift fleet and provides support for new installations
  • Partners with EHS, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering and other teams regularly.
  • Responds to emergency calls as necessary
  • Coordinates daily maintenance activities, reviews and assigns work, and organizse schedule
  • Completes inventory and requisitions for machine parts, equipment, and other supplies. Ensures stock can be maintained and replenished.
  • Reads work orders and specifications. Identifies equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Records production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
  • Inspects or test damaged machine parts and marks defective areas. Collaborates with supervisors to ensure all repair and preventative maintenance needs are completed on time and correctly.
  • Diagnoses problems, replaces or repair parts, tests and adjusts as needed.
  • Reassembles machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work.
  • Dismantles machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
  • Installs, replaces, or changes machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
  • Collaborates with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
  • Lubricates or applies adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures.
  • Transports machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, hoists, or dollies.
  • Develops and executes a preventive maintenance program.
  • Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.

  • Bilingual English & Spanish is required.
  • Strong mechanical abilities coupled with extensive knowledge & experience in troubleshooting drives, motors and controls
  • Ability and willingness to work both strategically and hands on.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, hand tools, air Impact tools, grinders, hacksaws, power tools, and all safety equipment.
  • Ability to safely climb and perform work at heights from ladders and/or scaffolding.
  • Ability to perform minor welding and fabrication tasks preferred but not required
  • Must be comfortable and able to work effectively while exposed to fumes, airborne particles, high volume decibels, extreme hot & cold environments, moving mechanical parts and vibrations on a regular basis.
  • Must be capable of standing for extended periods of time, frequent bending/stooping, lifting up to 60 pounds.

  • Degree and/or other higher education in mechanical, facilities or related field is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment
  • 3+ years of direct employee supervision
