Position Summary: The Site Safety Officer will identify and mitigate occupational health hazards, safety risks, and at risk behavior for an environmental remediation construction project located in Cameron, LA. Direct oversight of regulatory compliance for all safety programs onsite to ensure a safe, healthy work environment.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Ensure all health and safety plans are aligned with company goals, understood and followed by RECON employees and subcontractors at all levels to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
  • Provide education about federal, state, and local health and safety regulations and guidelines relevant to the project work to employees, consistently communicating and promoting a culture of safety to mitigate risk
  • Implement the job site health and safety plan, RECON's company safety plan, and maintain the Hazard Observation Feedback Program for the organization
  • Write, implement and maintain job hazard analysis, job safety analysis, job safety analysis plans and permits to work for the project
  • Audit and inspect job site conditions and activities, initiate corrective and preventative actions
  • Implement behavior based safety techniques and tactics, speak to large groups of employees daily in at company safety morning meetings to communicate safety messages and reinforce safety as an important core value
  • Enforce company and site specific safety policies and best practices, conduct accident and incident investigations, find root cause, and suggest improvements to avoid safety related incidents and verify actions taken
  • Report activities, findings, incidents, and investigations to the Regional Health & Safety Manager
What We Require:
  • Three or more years of construction industry safety experience and a proven track record of increasing responsibility within Health & Safety
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40 Hour and/or 8 Hour refresher with knowledge of behavioral safety programs
  • Experience working with large specialty construction equipment and equipment inspections
  • Ability to enforce company safety policies and procedures with confidence and adapt with ease in a fast paced work environment to meet needs of the business
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office: Word, Excel and Outlook; plus the ability to complete and submit company reports in a timely manner with high accuracy
  • Qualified candidates with safety experience local to the Cameron, LA or surrounding area preferred
  • Must be available to work or travel over extended periods of time with a routine rotation schedule back home monthly, 80% travel
