Job Description Summary:

The 2nd shift Shipping Supervisor directs and supervises picking, packing and loading of orders for LTL and van shipments, maintains inventory control in the warehouse, and prioritizes finished goods movement. This position is responsible for productivity, quality, on time delivery, safety, and employee/labor relations within his/her department.

The position will supervise 30-35 hourly warehouse employees and drivers to make sure all items are picked, packed, and shipped on time while complying with company policy.

The position will be responsible to report safety, quality, delivery, and usage metrics to the Distribution Manager and identify and correct all issues that negatively affect these metrics.

This position will own the layout of the warehouse and packing areas and is empowered to make any changes required to meet productivity goals.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the personnel of the shipping and packaging areas.
  • Work with Shipping Coordinators to schedule daily workload.
  • Ensure on time delivery for all shipments.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness in the Shipping area.
  • Deliver a completely finished good, fully packaged and labeled, ready to stage into ship lanes.
  • Ensure trucks are loaded efficiently and safely.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of finished goods and packaging materials.
  • Develop improvement plans to increase efficiency in the shipping operation.
  • Develop team members through training and coaching.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of shipping and logistics.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • BS/BA in Business, Management, Supply Chain, or Engineering (preferred) or High school diploma or GED and three (3) to five (5) years of distribution supervision experience.
  • Prior experience with ERP system.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office.
  • Knowledge of shipping documents.
  • Must have strong organizational, interpersonal, leadership, team building skills and communication skills.
