Overview:

The Senior Geophysical Technician is responsible for supporting geophysical data acquisition, processing, and interpretation activities. This role involves operating and maintaining geophysical equipment, ensuring data quality, and assisting geophysicists in analyzing and interpreting geophysical data. The Senior Geophysical Technician plays a crucial role in field operations, data management, and equipment troubleshooting.

IMPORTANT:FPM Remediations, Inc. is an 8(a) HUBZone business certified by the Small Business Administration (SBA). FPMR employees who live in a HUBZone, may be eligible to receive additional earnings paid on a bi-weekly basis. These additional earnings will be paid following verification and provision of supporting documents. The HUBZone earnings will continue to be paid if residency in a HUBZone is maintained.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operates geophysical survey equipment (e.g., seismic, gravity, magnetic, electrical) in field environments.
  • Ensures accurate data collection by calibrating and maintaining geophysical instruments.
  • Assists in the planning and execution of geophysical surveys, including site preparation and logistics.
  • Processes and manages geophysical data using specialized software.
  • Performs quality control checks on acquired data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Generates preliminary data interpretations and visualizations for review by geophysicists.
  • Conducts regular maintenance and troubleshooting of geophysical equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Coordinates with suppliers and service providers for equipment repairs and calibration.
  • Maintains an inventory of geophysical equipment and spare parts.
  • Leads field teams as assigned in geophysical survey operations, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Trains junior technicians and field on the proper use of geophysical equipment.
  • Documents field activities and maintains detailed records of survey parameters and conditions.
  • Assists geophysicists in the interpretation of geophysical data by providing technical insights and preliminary analysis.
  • Prepares technical reports and summaries of geophysical survey results.
  • Participates in project meetings and contributes to data interpretation discussions.
  • Adheres to company HSE policies and procedures during field operations.
  • Conducts risk assessments and implements mitigation measures for field activities.
  • Ensures compliance with environmental regulations and guidelines during geophysical surveys.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Functions as geophysical field team leader as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

An Associate's degree in Geophysics, Geology, Earth Science, or a related field. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
5 years of experience in geophysical data acquisition and processing.
Proven experience with various geophysical survey methods and equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in geophysical data processing software.
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude for handling and maintaining geophysical equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Safety certifications related to fieldwork (e.g., First Aid, CPR, HAZWOPER) are advantageous.
