Description for Job: IRC21435 Housekeeper
Housing and Residence Life, Downtown
Location: New Orleans, LA
Summary Responsible for performing custodial duties, cleanliness of hospital resident on-call rooms, patient relations guest rooms, visiting guest rooms, arriving students, departure rooms, hallways, and public areas in Deming. Minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure an aseptic and aesthetic environment to the Medical School buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Ability to perform the essential duties of the job required including the ability to stand, walk, climb, lift (up to 45 lbs.) bend, stoop, sweep, vacuum, mop floors, move desks, furniture, refrigerators, microwaves and stoves.
* Ability to safely dispose of hazardous materials; identify stains and use proper chemicals for their removal; operate manual and power equipment; work effectively in and around the public; perform physical labor; maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population.
* Good communication skills required including the ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members verbally, to receive, give, write, and understand labels and instructions.
* Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures for cleaning chemicals, products and equipment.
Required Education and/or Experience
* One year of experience in general cleaning
Preferred Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Custodial background in the hospitality industry
