**TITLE:** Cafeteria Staff Assistant
**REPORTS TO:** Cafeteria Manager
**SUPERVISES:** N/A
**TERM: 10 months (188-day calendar), Non-exempt**
**JOB GOAL:** To provide support to the schools food service operation with specific responsibilities for food preparation, serving food and maintaining high standards of food quality, customer service, sanitation and safety.
**QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING:**
* High school diploma or GED
* Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
* Ability to operate large and small kitchen equipment and tools
* Ability to perform basic arithmetic functions
* Meet health, mental, and physical requirements
* FBI/TBI Fingerprint/Background Clearance every five (5) years
Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent might find appropriate and acceptable
**EVALUATION:** Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
**PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:**
- Prepare quality food, according to a planned menu of tested, uniform recipes
- Serve food according to meal schedules, departmental polices and procedures
- Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety standards
- Assist with stocking food and non-food items
- Follows established procedure to meet high standards of cleanliness, health and safety
- Maintains personal appearance and hygiene suited for the school cafeteria
- Maintains positive interactions with staff members, students, parents, teachers and visitors
- Performs functions of other school nutritional service positions as required by the cafeteria manager for the purpose of maintaining adequate staff coverage
- Attends professional development meetings to improve knowledge and skills
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the field supervisor, cafe manager and / or building administrator
