Working Title Food Service Technician II - Lead Worker (Part Time) Role Title Food Service Technician II - 79212 Location Staunton - 790 Job Description Western State Hospital is seeking a Food Service Technician II to perform a combination of operational tasks in support of the Nutrition Services department. Based on training, job functions will include a combination of the following: functioning as lead worker performing opening/closing responsibilities; utilizing the CBORD assist with assembly of patient trays, snacks and bag meals; cleaning dishes, trays, equipment and kitchen facilities; cafeteria assistance; kiosk operation and vending; stocking; closing and support. All work to be performed in accordance with rules and regulations of the Virginia Department of Health, maintaining a high level of personal hygiene. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications for the position include good math and organizational skills, the ability to effectively communicate (both written and oral) and work with others and to work with deadlines. Ability to take work direction, coordinate work projects and prioritize/perform multiple tasks. Knowledge of food service, vending, receiving operations and basic accounting/money handling skills. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate with superiors and coordinate with peers; Ability to take work direction and prioritize work tasks; Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal guidance; Ability to lift moderate to heavy objects (20 50+ lbs); prolonged standing and walking on various surfaces; must be able to work when needed in various environmental conditions. Must be able to operate a cash register and/or make accurate change, count inventory. Must be able to understand and follow written and oral instructions and able to read tray tickets and posted job assignments. Preferred Qualifications High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred. Prior experience in food service, experience with commercial/retail sanitation functions, experience in vending or receiving/managing inventory, Associates Degree or 2 years of college in a related field, or job experience. Bi-Lingual in Spanish preferred. Special Requirements The successful applicant must pass a criminal background investigation, drug screening test and employment reference check. The applicant must have the ability to perform at the level of physical demands noted on the Employee Work Profile.
