Job Description

The Food Service Aide is responsible for full service of breakfast and lunch as prescribed by USDA/CACFP regulations, Head Start Program Performance Standards, Vermont Child Care Licensing Regulations for Center-Based Child Care and Preschool Programs and the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct.

  • Carry out duties in compliance with USDA/Child and Adult Care Food Program Regulations, HS Program Performance Standards, Vermont Child Care Licensing Regulations for Center-Based Child Care and Preschool Programs and the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct
  • Support kitchen staff in ensuring food/non-food items are stored following USDA/CACFP regulations and Vermont Child Care Licensing Regulations for Center- Based Child Care and Preschool Programs
  • Serve breakfast and lunch at regularly established times for enrolled children/staff and adults volunteering in center and serve family style. Meals are to be served at least 2&fac12; hours apart but not more than 3 hours apart
  • Assist children during mealtime if requested, ensuring modeling of appropriate practices per HS Program Performance Standards
  • Clean mealtime area entirely for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions and meeting health and safety requirements
  • Actively participate in program and family/child staffing as requested regarding a child's individual health plan
  • Support kitchen staff in preparing and plating food as requested
  • Ability to support kitchen staff in grocery shopping as necessary
  • Complete NEKCA Performance Evaluations, Professional Development Self-Assessment, and in partnership with supervisor, Individualized Professional Development Plan
  • Be aware of indicators of child abuse and neglect and comply with Vermont Mandated Reporter Law and program Child Protection Protocol
  • Oversee collection and maintenance of and/or support in maintaining compost system
  • All other duties deemed necessary by your supervisor and/or CFDP Associate Director
Requirements
  • Must comply with NEKCA policies if hired.
  • Staff will be required to authorize and pass a CDD and NEKCA's criminal record check process
  • GED or High School Diploma
  • Knowledge of food preparation, meal service and sanitation requirements preferred
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and nutritional requirements preferred
  • Sufficient transportation to meet job requirements
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Work effectively as a team member
  • Physical Exam/TB Screening
