Job Details
The Valparaiso YMCA is seeking 2 PT housekeeping staff members. Hours are 5-10pm during the week and at least 1 weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) each week.
Wages start at $12.50/hr.
Essential Functions Include:
1. Maintains cleanliness of all areas of the building and grounds. This includes but is not limited to: mopping, sweeping, cleaning mirrors and windows, disinfecting toilets and sinks, snow removal, and salting of sidewalks.
2. Perform deep cleaning tasks when assigned.
3. Performs heavy duty tasks, such as scrubbing floors and cleaning locker rooms.
4. Cut padlocks as needed.
5. Maintain and organize equipment, supplies and closets. Notifies supervisor of any damaged or broken equipment or when supplies are low.
6. Provides emergency cleaning services promptly, and in accordance with safety guidelines.
7. Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions. Follow procedures for
reporting all accidents, incidents and hazards.
8. Adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations as outlined in employee handbook and other communications. Obtain and maintain required training(s).
9. Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.
10. Ensures building and property is secure during shift and reports incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
11. Cleans up blood or bodily fluids which could contain blood borne pathogens.
12. Operates motorized equipment used for cleaning.
Qualifications Include:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Self-starter, ability to work independently.
Dependability and a strong work ethic required.
Previous work experience in janitorial or other cleaning positions highly preferred.
