**JOB SUMMARY:**

The Yard Gate Attendant serves as the first point of contact for all clients, employees, and vendors entering the equipment yard and responsible for greeting, communicating safety policies, and directing all traffic to designated yard areas in a clear, professional manner. Responsibilities include load inspections, communication to Yard Attendants and responsible department, while managing the equipment movement records, coordination, location of equipment/attachment. The successful candidate must be results oriented with the ability to accurately manage multiple processes with constant interruptions, and always work safely in a fast-paced environment. This is a hands-on position that will support efficient yard management to maintain clean, orderly, and well-kept grounds that reflect the dedication, hard work, and excellence of Western States Equipment Company.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**

**Safety**

* Actively cares, promotes, manages, and advocates safety at Western States. As a team member in the organization, it is critical to ensure all employees, vendors, and clients have a safe work environment while adhering to all applicable safety policies, procedures and standards.

* Complies with STAR card requirements according to WSECOs policy and standards.

* Ability to complete Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) prior to any job-related tasks according to WSECOs policy and standards.

* Adheres to required personal protective equipment (PPE) as identified in safety policy to ensure internal and external client protection.

* Maintains clean/clutter free personal work areas to ensure safe environments for all WSECO employees.

* Participates in safety training and agrees to reach out for assistance when procedural knowledge needs elevating.

**Gate Coordination**

* Responsible for greeting, communicating safety policies, and directly all traffic to designated area in the equipment yard in a clear, professional manner.

* Responsible for inspecting incoming new /used equipment/attachments for damage, abuse, and fuel levels.

* Utilizes digital data inventory software, such as Microsoft Dynamics AX, CAT Inspect, Return to Ready app, to report on equipment availability, conditions and location.

* Utilizes Return to Ready APP and ERP system to record all equipment/attachment movement and locations.

* Communicates all equipment/attachment activity and changes to yard personnel to ensure incoming clients and drivers are assisted in a timely manner.

* Manages Yard Shack communication from employees/clients and vendors (equipment yard/ grounds) through phone calls and emails, intranet and Microsoft products.

* Assists with yard security and reports any suspicious activities to the Equipment Yard Supervisor.

* Assists Equipment Yard Supervisor in monitoring access control of yard security and confirms security system is active at close of business.

* Inspects all loads arriving and departing yard for safe loading requirements.

* Responds to all client, employee, vendor inquiries in a prompt, professional and friendly manner.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

**Equipment Yard Attendant Support**

* Completes receiving inspection on all gear entering the yard with Return to Ready Power App.

* Completes final check of customer equipment exiting the yard.

* Participates in the monthly safety/yard inspections and follows through with appropriate action to support observations.

* Inspects machines upon customer return for damage, abuse, fuel levels and all attachments.

* Processes Equipment Movement Records (EMR)

* Other duties as assigned.

**SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:**

* Knowledge and use of Microsoft computer products or other comparable systems required.

* Ability to gain knowledge of truck, trailer and equipment types.

* Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications provided by WSECO.

* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.

* Consistent attendance and timeliness with the ability to work overtime with limited notice.

* Working within and promoting Western States purpose, vision and values.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:**

* Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

* Minimum of one year construction industry or security industry experience preferred.

* Minimum of one year equipment operation experience required. (i.e., Forklifts, rigging and overhead cranes, etc.)

* Minimum of one year inventory and logistics required.

* Minimum of 6 months customer service experience required.

* Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record required.

* Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English).

**PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:**

* Ability to stand for long periods of time along with walking, sitting, repetitive climbing stairs, reaching (including but not limited to above-shoulder reaching), repetitive bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, leaning and twisting.

* Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. in accordance with Western States Lifting Policy to include amount and approach.

* Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies.
