QUALIFICATIONS: Mature resident of the community at least 18 years of age

High school diploma or equivalent

Possess a demonstrated interest in children and education

REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor

SUPERVISES: N/A

JOB GOAL: Assist the bus driver in providing safe transportation for pupils of the school district in maintaining discipline while bus is in operation.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus.
  2. Ensure that all student passengers, including those in wheelchairs and braces, are properly secured in their seats or wheelchair slot.
  3. Assure the students get on and off the bus in an orderly fashion.
  4. Assure that there is someone at home when dropping students off.
  5. Assist bus driver in maintaining discipline while the bus is in operation.
  6. Maintain current knowledge of Emergency Evacuation procedures and any first aid knowledge given through training by the district, as needed for students.
  7. Assist substitute drivers with directions.
  8. Assist drivers in maintaining a clean bus interior
  9. Operate mechanical lift when applicable.
  10. Any other duties as assigned by bus driver

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 182 days
Salary is based on salary scale established by the School Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board Trustees' policy on evaluation of District personnel.
