To learn more about Berry, visit Responsibilities Directs the daily work activities of team members. Assists supervisor in designated tasks. Maintain daily production rate at acceptable levels as determined by his/her immediate supervisor. Keep machine downtime to a minimum to maximize output rates. Accurately reports and documents any problems, issues, downtime and corrective measures in the Event Log. Oversees the training of new hires and ensures personnel learns to run all equipment and can perform all Job tasks needed for the Department. Responsible for ensuring all finished products are within customer specifications. Ensures & verifies all outgoing products are labeled and packaged according to customer specifications. Ensures & verifies all quality checks performed are accurate and recorded properly on checklists and in our Quality Windows program. Makes quality decisions on materials for shipment or rejection. Completes proper documentation for daily shift production reports/attendance and other paperwork. Ensures all team member's daily paperwork is accurate and recorded correctly. Adheres to all safety policies and procedures and ensures all team members work within the safety guidelines. Responsible for proper housekeeping of the Doctor department and delegating the work to ensure completion before shift end. Ensures GMP & 5S guidelines are followed. Works with maintenance and operating technicians to complete minor and preventive maintenance on the lines. Maintains communication with Manufacturing Lead of any problems experienced on the line that could result in an extended period of downtime. Ensure that oncoming shift has all materials needed to get started at the beginning of the shift. Ensures all FIFO requirements are followed. Supports plant and company goals. Learns to operate all equipment in the Department and fills in on vacant machines as needed. May be required to cover for other Lead Operators (vacation, etc.), as needed. Ensures Lean Initiatives are achieved. Supervisory Responsibilities : Supervision Received : Manufacturing Lead and Plant Management Supervision Given : Directs the work of the shift, supervising 5-6 Machine Operators, Senior Machine Operators and/or Floaters. Diploma or GED Experience : Minimum of 3 years manufacturing experience required. Physical/Cognitive Requirements : Work is performed in a plant environment with frequent contact with others. Language skills : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, process and procedure manuals. Ability to write technical reports and routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively within a group. Mathematical Skills : Ability to use formulations and calculate figures associated with the departments work. Ability to read and calibrate a tape measure/ruler. Reasoning Ability : Ability to solve practical problems and develop alternative solutions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Physical Demands : Requires prolonged sitting and frequent bending (20%), standing and walking (65%), occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50lbs, pulling and pushing (15% utilizing material handling equipment to lift & move rolls averaging 175lbs), manual dexterity and the ability to distinguish numbers & letters. Equipment : Knowledge of and skills in the use of office machines (computer and copier) and business procedures. Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude and experience. Understanding of the basic fundamentals of plastic product machinery and the process behind the mechanics. Ability to use equipment properly such as tow motors, cutting tools and lifting hoists.
