This position will provide insightful research to inform the communications team and the administration at large on the governor s messaging on issues. Develop, create, and analyze information and data to create research memos to inform messaging on key issues, including in rapid response scenarios.\r

Advise and assist in preparing the governor for high-profile interviews, town halls, and other key public events.\r

Identify, track, and strategically compile the governor s accomplishments, actions, and policy impacts across Maryland.\r

Assist members of the communications team in the drafting of high-level messaging materials, including talking points and background information.\r

Manage the vetting operation within the governor s office, compiling background information on individuals, business, non-profits, and locations that may be associated with the governor.\r

Work with staff across state agencies including with members of the cabinet in order to gather and synthesize necessary information and data needed to communicate the governor s policy agenda.\r

Manage and oversee the media monitoring and transcription processes within the communications team.\r

Work alongside the governor s speechwriter, digital team, and press secretaries to approve external materials and ensure that all public facing materials are accurate.\r

\r\r\rMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSA bachelor s degree and a minimum 3 years of experience working in a political research environment, including political campaigns, committees, or governmental organizations preferably in a leadership role; working knowledge of Maryland politics preferred.\rDESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExcellent written communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment. This individual should be highly organized, adaptable, and work well within a team. Sharp political judgment and instincts with strong attention towards current events. Excellent attention to detail is a must. Ability to work nights and weekends.
