****Overview of Chef****

Our White Lodging School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Purdue University Northwest is seeking a Chef to supervise the daily back of house operations in our universitys foodservice facility. The Chefs responsibilities include supervising the preparation and cooking of food, maintaining targeted inventory data, guide other kitchen staff, and comply with safety and health regulations. Maximize profitability through menu mix, meal cost, expectations, inventory control, cost control, labor analysis and productivity analysis. Responsible for overall variety, quality, presentation, and nutritional value of foods, including details related to allergies.

****Duties and Responsibilities of Chef****

* 50% of duties and responsibilities are dedicated to managing Westville campus food services and 50% as Hammond's campus Kitchen Coordinator

* Supervise kitchen employees, train in designated stations, and schedule work shifts

* Oversee the food preparation and cooking process

* Streamline kitchen processes to maintain standard service times and organize food orders

* Monitor inventory levels, perform weekly inventory assessments; order materials, supplies, and ingredients based on demand

* Work to price and change menu items based on sales and expenses

* Maintain weekly and monthly cost reports

* Track the uses of products within the kitchen to identify areas of potential waste

* Work in support with administrative staff and event coordinators on HTM programs focused events

* Must be able to travel to both Hammond and Westville campuses

* 1 year experience with up-to-date culinary trends and optimized kitchen processes
