**Job Summary**

The Operational General Manager provides the leadership and management to drive improvement through the proper operational practices and controls that ensure superior manufacturing execution, delivering, year over year performance improvement for multiple business units in the mid-west. The OGM validates that all required resources are effectively executed to safeguard the operating efficiencies and strengths of the company today and prepare for growth. This leader is responsible for two manufacturing plants and one assembly and fulfillment warehouse operation. The position is responsible for maintaining a positive work environment and building employee engagement while establishing operational budgets and cost controls that help achieve financial success. The OGM leads the operational department heads in establishing and implementing objectives, procedures, and processes that support the company's mission. The positions goals are accomplished by supporting the vision set forth by the COO and executive management team while guided by the mission and objectives of the company.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

* Codify and sustain a strong working production environment ensuring that environmental, health, safety and quality methods and practices are in place and effectively managed including Vanguard ISO standards to promote a culture of health and safety.

* Oversight of day-to-day manufacturing operations.

* Successfully assimilate new revenue growth.

* Consorted effort to find cost out opportunities.

* Work collaboratively across Vanguard Companies while specifically overseeing manufacturing, shipping / receiving, maintenance, quality, distribution, and warehousing in accordance with policies, principles, and established procedures.

* Manage employee performance by establishing and maintaining clear expectations, goals and objectives, tracking progress against goals and objectives, and providing feedback and in a professional manner which supports the company's vison.

* Foster a success-oriented environment while ensuring accountability of participants within the organization.

* Work with management team to set and maintain operational cost budgets.

* Lead team in the development and managing of effective repairs and maintenance budget.

* Provide leadership in companies position of superior manufacturing capabilities, maintenance and management of production assets, and developments of capital expense plan and request to maintain top performance.

* Lead manufacturing team in adherence to and best practices in use of ERP and other manufacturing systems.

* Lead manufacturing team in maintaining and adherence of production reporting practices to ensure integrity of job cost and estimating system.

* Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement changes to the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel to accomplish sustainability and growth of the organization.

* Responsible for the design and implementation of short and long-term improvement plans, including production incentive programs, production training programs, supervision training exercises and other operation excellence initiatives.

* Leads manufacturing team in collaboration with HR in employee retention and engagement.

* Ensure that capacity and manufacturing schedules are meeting customer expectations and needs to facilitate growth.

* Work with Materials Department to assist in best practices for procurement of raw materials and plant scheduling.

* Work closely with COO and sales leadership to implement new opportunities.

* Comply with company policies and procedures.

* Additional duties as assigned by COO.

**Minimum Qualifications**

* Bachelor's degree in Management Operations, Engineering, technical degree, or related field or equivalent educations and experience

* Seven (7) plus years of leadership experience in a plant management, general management, or a mid-career level role

* Strong management, leadership, and communication skills within a manufacturing environment

* Professional, hands-on, action-oriented manager with ability to drive results

* Ability to mentor and build effective employees, supervisors and teams through the identification and development of skills, capabilities, and leadership of others

* Strong business management characteristics including budgeting, labor planning, forecasting, equipment planning, compliance and other financial controls

* High level of integrity with a proven track record of initiative, integrity, business ethics and professionalism.

* Leadership skills including creative problem solving, planning, organizing, developing talent and ability to sponsor change

**Preferred Qualifications**

* Corrugated display, industrial packaging or closely related industry experience preferred

* Strong continuous improvement experience

* Experience in managing an assembly and fulfillment operation

* eCommerce business experience with buildout of newly developed eCommerce platform
