**Cashier I (Student Union) (Starbucks)** **Location** Main Campus This position contributes to Starbucks/University of Arizona success by providing legendary customer service to all customers. This job creates the Starbucks Experience for our customers by providing customers with prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable store environment. This position models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles, and receives and disburses money for payment of goods purchased while assisting customers to Starbucks standards. The successful candidate should connect with customers with a conversation and a smile while demonstrating proficiency and accuracy in the operation of the cash register.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

* Operates a cash register and receives payment from customers in cash or credit card, accurately counts and provides change to customers as required

* Follows all Starbucks customer service and cash handling policies and procedures

* Consistently demonstrates proficiency and accuracy in operation of cash registers

* Retrieves and deposits bank and counts to verify accuracy; records totals as required

* Cleans and stocks cash register stands

* Cleans and stocks POS area and prepares food and prep for use during the day

* Assists with opening of unit: sets out utensils, stocks cups, lids and condiments; stocks refrigerator with bakery items, desserts, drinks; stocks condiment counter

* Works within a team to ensure that customers are highly satisfied with their Starbucks experience

* Connects with each customer with conversation and a smile

* Prepares all drink orders quickly and to Starbucks standards; greets and serves customers in a friendly courteous manner

* Maintains a clean work environment

* Prepares food and prep for use during the day

* Works harmoniously with co-workers

* Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**

* Knowledge of basic arithmetic

* Knowledge of merchandise location or seating charts

* Skill in handling and counting cash

* Skill in communications with the public

* Skill in both oral and written communication

Physical Requirements:

* Frequently reaches, bends, lifts, shakes, stirs, pours, carries, and pushes

* Ability to consistently withstand a large workload under high heat

* Ability to occasionally transport/move a minimum of 50 pounds

**Minimum Qualifications**

* High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required

**Preferred Qualifications**

* Experience operating commercial food service equipment

* Previous experience working in a Starbucks location
