Overview:

TRC serves a broad range of clients in industry and government, implementing complex projects from initial concept to delivery and operation.

TRC is currently hiring a Distribution Field Technician
for our Birmingham, AL area. This position will perform detailed design of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems. This work includes the preparation of field notes, drawings, specifications and design estimates. Possess an analytical competence to interact with variety of individuals including engineers and experienced distribution system designers. This position will be working within our Power Distribution Engineering team and a part of our growing Power Sector.

This position is responsible for performing visual inspection of overhead and underground electrical distribution facilities and equipment, compilation field data collection, minor work order preparation, and maintenance reports of distribution equipment.

Provide assistance with storm damage assessments to OH and UG distribution structures and equipment for areas in and out of state.



Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the acquisition of field data.
  • Assist in the gathering of information from field notes.
  • Follow Code of Safe Practices as outlined in the company safety policies.
  • Keep supervisor and coworkers informed.
  • Possess the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with all levels in the organization and with outside clients and agencies.
  • Prepare and submit required reports and correspondence.
  • Design and prepare independently, construction orders related to overhead, underground facilities associated with electric distribution systems applying prescribed standards, guides, specifications and procedures.
  • Apply the client's standards, guidelines, specifications, practices and procedures or appropriate industry standards in preparing layouts of overhead and/or underground electric distribution facilities.


Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) or utility experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of computers and software applications desired (MS Office products) preferred
  • Clean and valid Driver's license required.
  • Travel is primarily regional to the utility client(s) territory during the business day, although overnight travel is to be expected.
  • Additional travel to other TRC territories for up to 2 weeks on site may be required
  • Overnight travel to surrounding utility territory is expected

Compensation: Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Companys annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
