Maintenance Assistant


Job Details

Ampco Pumps is a fast-growing manufacturer of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps used in the food and dairy industries, desalination, and various chemical and industrial applications. We are currently seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our growing team. The Maintenance Assistant is a self-motivated individual whose primary responsibility is to assist in the maintenance and repair of facilities, building mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist with performing general and preventive maintenance work on shop equipment to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, basic prints, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Help troubleshoot general operational problems.
  • Assist with general facility upkeep (including grass cutting and snow removal).
  • Respond timely to maintenance requests.
  • Monitor inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies, reordering as needed.
  • Perform all recycling activities for paper and cardboard according to procedures.
  • Follow and comply with all safety rules, regulations, and work instructions
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude required with proven practical skills in areas such as carpentry, electrical and plumbing.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Able to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on given assignments.
  • Hard worker with proven problem-solving skills and a desire to learn every day.
  • Must have good attendance.
  • Must understand and abide by all safety procedures
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to repetitively lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to continuously perform work standing, squatting, and kneeling
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
