Ampco Pumps is a fast-growing manufacturer of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps used in the food and dairy industries, desalination, and various chemical and industrial applications. We are currently seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our growing team. The Maintenance Assistant is a self-motivated individual whose primary responsibility is to assist in the maintenance and repair of facilities, building mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist with performing general and preventive maintenance work on shop equipment to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, basic prints, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Help troubleshoot general operational problems.
- Assist with general facility upkeep (including grass cutting and snow removal).
- Respond timely to maintenance requests.
- Monitor inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies, reordering as needed.
- Perform all recycling activities for paper and cardboard according to procedures.
- Follow and comply with all safety rules, regulations, and work instructions
- Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude required with proven practical skills in areas such as carpentry, electrical and plumbing.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Able to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on given assignments.
- Hard worker with proven problem-solving skills and a desire to learn every day.
- Must have good attendance.
- Must understand and abide by all safety procedures
Physical Requirements
- Ability to repetitively lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to continuously perform work standing, squatting, and kneeling
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
