The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, system selections, upgrades, and the implementation of all areas of data networking, including local area and wide-area cabling, network security, and network reliability.Responsibilities include: Supporting, troubleshooting, designing, planning, securing, and installing network electronics and technologies. Configures VPN's and verifies "Secure by Default" techniques are used. Reviews and audits VPN configurations on a regular basis to ensure proper standards are utilized. Monitoring network operations and responding to network support issues and making recommendations to provide the appropriate level of network performance and reliability to the user community. Responding to escalated network support issues. Proactively monitoring network growth and projecting future expansion of the network, making recommendations to provide the appropriate level of network performance and reliability to the user community.Reports to: Manager, ITMinimum Qualifications: Minimum 8-10 years' experience in increasingly complex data networking environment with increasing responsibility. Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Network Security, or equivalent experience preferred. Network certification preferred.Success Factors: Work experience may substitute for minimum education requirement. Proven ability to interact professionally with staff and management at all levels of the organization. Working knowledge of networking protocols and their use in a healthcare setting. Experience in supporting networking infrastructures in an enterprise environment. Ability to make recommendations for solutions to problems. Works well independently as well as in a team environment. Maintains a positive attitude when interacting with peers and customers. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage time effectively to support projects as well as day-to-day support activities. Willing to learn new technologies and techniques. Ability to use project management tools and techniques to support implementation and upgrade projects.
