LENGTH OF TERM: 180 Days/hours as assigned
SUMMARY: Assists special services students being transported by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Other duties may be assigned)
- Assists students being loaded onto and off of bus
- Ensures students are properly secured and remain seated while on bus
- Performs routine first aid and CPR as needed
- Maintains student discipline while students are on the bus
- Assists in preparation and implementation of emergency evacuations as required
- Maintains confidentiality
- Maintains a regular and reliable level of attendance in order to perform and complete duties as outlined herein

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:
High School Diploma or GED
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information and/or speak effectively with supervisors, students, parents, and other employees of the school corporation
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts and the ability to complete routine arithmetical calculations
REASONING ABILITIES:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to use machines, tools, equipment, and work aids which are commonly associated with this type of work
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and, the ability to focus. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must submit to mandatory drug testing and physical examinations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles. There are no environmental hazards indicated for this position. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. All employees shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
