Design Supervisor, DDG 51 Planning Yard Design - General Dynamics - Bath Iron Works

Job Description:

Reports to the First Shift Planning Yard Design Section Manager.

Primary responsibilities

Interfaces daily with internal and external customers.
Ensures design tasks are completed to established schedule, cost, and quality parameters.
Inputs weekly work order status.
Regularly communicate progress on floor issues with Design team leadership.
Reports design task cost, schedule, and quality progress at various weekly meetings.
Monitors cost, schedule, and quality metrics to identify employee development opportunities.
Performs root cause analysis and associated corrective action plans for identified design issues.
Ensures tasks are completed with the required level of quality specified in the contract.
Works with the Section Manager to evaluate workload requirements.
Develops employee performance evaluations.
Develops ROM and GAF design estimates.
Processes and verifies employee time accounting records.
Provides guidance and direction across the Team for Process, Policy, and Technical issues.
Administers the BMDA labor contract.

Bachelor of Science Degree in technical, business field or a BIW graduate Apprentice (Manufacturing or Design), or 6 years of job related experience.
Proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Proficient in navigating within a Microsoft Access database.

Occasional weekend overtime supervision coverage will be required.

This position requires you to be able to obtain a government security clearance. You must be a US Citizen for consideration and you must be able to obtain an interim security clearance within the first 45 days of hire. Preferred:

Familiar with ship specifications as related to design requirements.
Working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements.
Working experience with Earned Value Management.
Software Tool development experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Software or script development experience.
- Working with end users and developers to create software requirements.
- Experience developing test procedures and training material from software requirements.
