FLSA Classification: Seasonal, non-exempt

Pay Rate (hourly):$12 - $14/hour

Job Summary:Youth Programs Assistant Group Leaders, under the supervision of the Youth Programs Director, Assistant Youth Programs Director, and their Group Leaders, share in the JCC's commitment to the highest quality of programs while maintaining excellent customer service.Youth Programs Assistant Group Leader is responsible for assisting Group Leaders in implementing age-appropriate recreational activities, to enhance children's developmental and social growth. Youth Programs Assistant Group Leaders will help to impart Jewish themes and values through these camp activities whenever possible. Junior Group Leaders will foster interpersonal relationships among children, and will ensure a safe environment for children to explore their interests and expand on their abilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Work cooperatively with Group Leaders to implement daily activities
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and stimulating environment, to ensure compliance with all state and local health/safety standards and childcare licensure standards
  • Directly support children in all of their daily activities
  • Develop relationships with each child, providing guidance and leadership in friendship building skills
  • Set, by example, a positive and fun tone for camp
  • Work as part of counselor team during all-camp activities
  • Participate in counselor training
  • Work assigned schedule, being sure to arrive and leave on time
  • Responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of equipment and supplies ofJCC
  • Comply with all JCC policies and procedures
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to relate to children, parents, members and staff
Qualifications:

Education:
  • Must have completed sophomore year of high school
Experience:
  • Past experience working with children, preferably as a JCC Leader-in-Training
  • Must be 16 years of age or older
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to be actively moving for most of the day
