Description for Job: IRC20789 Senior Program Coordinator, Fitness and Wellness

Campus Recreation

Location: New Orleans, LA

Summary The Fitness Coordinator will be responsible for the direct oversight of fitness programs and facilities to include Group Exercise, Custom Fitness Classes, and Special Events. This position hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates part-time Group Exercise Instructors. The Fitness Coordinator also has responsibilities assisting with the Tulane Employee Health Improvement Program (EHIP). Other responsibilities include conducting risk management and facility inspections, inventory and maintenance of fitness equipment, payroll processing, and data management and reporting. This individual is a vital member of the Campus Recreation professional staff. All staff contribute to the facilitation, promotion, and growth of recreational programs for the department and university community, assisting with departmental special events and serving on university committees. This position directly reports to the Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Ability to work as part of a professional team and to collaborate effectively with colleagues.

* Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal and customer service skills, and relate to diverse user groups.

* Knowledge of industry standards in regards to group exercise and fitness programs.

* Ability to develop assessment tools, document participation, assess learning outcomes, and identify fitness trends.

* Knowledge of Microsoft computer applications.

* The ability to become skilled in website content management, database management, and recreation member management software.

Required Education and/or Experience

* Bachelor's degree or high school diploma/equivalent and 3 years of directly related work experience

* Industry fitness certification by an accredited organization, or the ability to obtain at least one certification within the first 3 months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree in Recreation, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science or related field.

* 1 year in a supervisory capacity

* Experience working in collegiate recreation.

* CPR and First Aid Instructor Certification.
