**General Summary**

Primarily responsible for overseeing and providing help desk support to the end-users. Provides assistance with the installation and deployment of technology hardware, software, and services. Provides support for office and fleet equipment. Participates in an after-hours rotating on-call program.

**Responsibilities**

- Complies with established Dakota Electric Association safety and operating rules, procedures, and guidelines; and is responsible for reporting un-safe practices to a supervisor.

- Overall responsibility for overseeing and providing help desk support for Dakota Electric. Provides companywide support of LAN environment, peripheral equipment, PCs, laptops, Mobile Devices, and software applications; configure, setup, move, and deploy PCs. Coordinates with vendors for repairs for PCs, and other peripheral equipment as needed.

- Overall responsibility during evening shift computer operations. Major areas include: iSeries computer and server backups, coordination of data storage and retention, job scheduling and processing, computer generated reports distribution, monthly and daily fuel system updates.

- Responsible for creation and maintenance of computer operations and support documentation.

- Prepares magnetic tapes for reuse following expiration of the retention schedule. Prepares magnetic tapes for nightly data files backup.

- Performs technology duties related to new user account setup, auditing, and deletion within active directory, as well as issuing and maintaining entry cards as needed.

- Assists with annual budget activities for the information services section and makes recommendations to his/her supervisor.

- Performs assigned project tasks according to the project schedule and assists the project manager and team with the development of the project plan. As a project leader; directs and delegates tasks as needed.

- Is primarily responsible for help desk support during office hours. Participates in an afterhours rotating on-call program.

**Supervision/Direction of Others**

- Provides direction and support to all Dakota Electric personnel requesting help desk support.

**Position Specifications**

Educational Experience

Two-year degree in a computer related program preferred. A+ certification preferred. At least one year of hands-on support of PCs in a LAN environment with Microsoft Windows operating systems. IBM iSeries training/experience a plus.

**Physical Demands/Working Conditions**

The physical demands and working conditions for this position are identified on the Office/Professional template. In addition, the following demands may be required:

- Participates in an afterhours rotating on-call program.

- Lifting/Carrying: The employee will occasionally lift and carry technology equipment weighing up to 40 pounds for short distances.

- Reaching: The employee will frequently perform cabling tasks reaching under desks, plugging in cables, answering telephone, and pulling wires, access spaces above ceiling panels, reaching for books and other items on and above desk.

- Climbing: The employee will be required to climb when network cable needs servicing above ceiling panels, at a height of 10-15 above the floor.
