Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Shipping Operator to join our shipping and chartering team. The Shipping Operator will coordinate ship operations activities in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective manner supporting the energy trading business, according to charter-party terms and conditions. The successful candidate will ensure the safe and efficient operation of vessels, including coordinating ship loadable, preparing for voyage orders, bunkers, agency appointments, and voyage monitoring. The Shipping Operator will achieve their objectives while adhering to UNIPEC America compliance and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct vessel commercial operations and port scheduling according to charter-party terms and conditions and trading requirements.
  • Arrange voyages and coordinate any changes or adjustments concerning cost savings with all stakeholders.
  • Monitor the vessel's commercial and contractual performance and communicate to the Chartering, Trading, and Crude Operations team as needed.
  • Prepare and send instructions and documents including loadable requirements, voyage orders, LOI's to ship owners, and agent nominations.
  • Timely input shipping information in IT SYSTEMS, collect and save shipping and cargo documents.
  • Coordinate and communicate with charterers, traders, cargo operators, brokers, agents, and vessels to facilitate resolving any issue related to ships.
  • Maintain awareness of port restrictions and regulations and ensure smooth operation.
  • Track all invoices analyzing and arranging freight and other shipping costs.
  • Coordinate with Finance providing accurate and timely data for efficient invoicing and rebilling to third-party.
  • Prepare shipping data and required statistics.
  • Work closely with internal groups such as Legal, Operations, Traders, Risk, and Finance to ensure we successfully collaboratively achieve business goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Maritime, such as Maritime Business, Maritime Administration, International Logistics, or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years' experience in tanker commercial operations or chartering experiences
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical capability
  • Attention to details
  • Proactive in a dynamic trading environment
  • Ability to work after office hours will be required in an urgent situation
