Responsibilities & tasks
- Must have N. American logistics experience in rail, truck and container trade.
- Lead, expand, and develop the US and Canada logistics team. Leading development and excellence in the US and Canada logistics being the primary responsible for domestic transports and export shipments.
- Active sparring partner to Head of Logistics on developing and implementing the business
- Strategy for US and Canada logistics.
- Overseeing all inland and export logistics and supplier and export coordination in the US and Canada in relation to the open book, planned and ongoing shipments.
- Act as NGFA trade rules subject matter expert being the first line of escalation and guidance.
- Act as an active sparring partner for the Commercial Development and Grains & Oil seeds teams and give direction on how and where to improve trades.
- Drive initiatives to standardize processes and implement systems to create scalability.
- Place bookings with carriers and forwarders according to the most cost-efficient and operational feasible option and optimize the open book and freight portfolio.
- Responsible for hosting 1-1 meetings and establishing individual development plans for the US and Canada logistics team.
- Control and process supplier, carrier and service invoices and responsibility for cost capturing and provisions on shipments making sure all accounts and PnLs are up to date at all times
- Support execution of all trades and developing the functional capabilities within execution.
- Drive a zero-tolerance mindset towards cost avoidance, shipment delays and manual errors.
Job Requirements & Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in a logistics or trade function within the agricultural trading industry
- Experienced as a team lead / people manager.
- Skilled and confident in managing carrier bookings and US export documentation.
- Understanding of the key profitability drivers in logistics and preferably proficient in both US as well as Canada domestic logistics and execution.
- Knowledgeable and experienced with NGFA Trade Rules.
- Interested by the intricacies of shipping, logistics and grains and have hands-on experience within the area.
- Eager to optimize execution workflow and managing a portfolio of bookings and shipments.
- Strong ability to facilitate cross-functional decision-making and execution and an ability to collaborate with stakeholders efficiently across borders and time zones.
- Conduct business in line with the Company's governance policy and instill a culture reflecting core Company values.
- Ability to thrive in a scale-up atmosphere with a founder's mentality.
