Position Summary:The University of Northern Colorado invites applications for a Technical Director for the School of Theatre Arts and Dance. This is a ten-month salaried staff position providing scenic technical support for alltheatre and dance productions. Working alongside a professional faculty of three, the Technical Director will oversee the budgeting, manufacturing, installation, and personnel health and safety associated with all aspects of production for an ambitious season 6-7 production season with 2 musicals and one dance concert and3-4 plays.
Job Duties:Technical Direction: Budgeting, scheduling, construction, and installation of all scenic elements.
Safety oversight for all technical areas
Supervision of student technical directors:
Advising of student scenic designers (along with Faculty scenic designer)
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree
Minimum of two years' experience in scenery construction, rigging systems, theatre project management, and budgeting in a collegiate or professional environment.
Experience in using standard and specialized scenic carpentry tools
Experience welding scenic structures.
Experience with scenic automation.
Experience with computer assisted drafting programs.
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Theatre
Master's Degree in Theatre
Master's of Fine Arts in Technical Direction or Scenic Design
