Clinical Counselor


Job Details

Trinity Christian College seeks a part-time Clinical Counselor for the Student Life department.The Clinical counselor is a part-time, temporary position through May 2024. The role's primary responsibilities include 1) providing direct clinical counseling to students, 2) consultation for on-call, care, and crisis.

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

Provide culturally responsive therapy

  • Provide services geared toward the prevention and remediation of the wellbeing and mental health needs of the student body.
  • Develop criteria to determine when to provide individual clinical therapy and when to refer to the college's third-party vendor.
  • Ensure highest standards of professional and ethical approaches to all areas of counseling (e.g., scope of practice, quality of training, quality of services proffered, documentation procedures).


Campus Outreach and Education

  • Promote and advocate for the counseling services and training programs of the counseling center to relevant Trinity constituents and community entities.
  • Provide educational and consultative support to the Residence Life staff, including limited on-call availability for crisis consultation with Residence Life staff.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and execution of the college's Title IX policy.
  • Offer consultation for the Care Team.


Qualifications include:

  • A Master's degree in relevant field required. Doctorate preferred.
  • Licensed clinical/counseling psychologist, LCPC, LCSW, or equivalent degree in Illinois is required
  • At least 1-2 years of clinical experience is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate with various stakeholders using discretion, professionalism and tact.
  • Professional expertise and integrity.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal and intercultural skills as well as clinical experience, preferably with college-aged/young adult population. Ability to establish rapport with a wide range of students
  • Area of interest/expertise that aligns with Trinity Christian College's student population.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, appropriately and professionally about confidential and sensitive information.
