JOB SUMMARY

This position performs a variety of routine-to-complex administrative duties which involves coordinating, implementing, and evaluating campus programming and student organizational leadership and development that complements the College's academic programs and enhances the overall educational experiences of students. This position supports the Director of Student Activities and works collaboratively with the campus community to assist with division-wide initiatives and serves as Co-Advisor to the Columbia College Activities Board (CCAB); and performs related duties as assigned. This class works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists with planning and implementing programs and events with the Office of Student Activities.
  • Serves as Co-Advisor to the Columbia College Activities Board (CCAB).
  • Assists with the development and coordination of training programs and conferences for student organization officers and advisors.
  • Plans student leadership programs, such as our Student Leadership Symposium, and other leadership initiatives.
  • Provides leadership and administrative support to student organization officers and advisor, including Greek Life organizations in event planning, fiscal processes, and group dynamics.
  • Provides budget oversight for any deposits and/or expenses obtained by student organizations that receive funding from CCSGA.
  • Coordinates Koala Appreciation Days for undergraduate day, evening, graduate, and online students.
  • Assists with other campus-wide events such as Family & Friends Weekend, CCAB's Homecoming Week, and Honors & Awards.
  • Leads office marketing initiatives.
  • Serves on college-wide committees/work groups, when needed.
  • May be required to work additional hours, nights and weekends as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or closely related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience in event management preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a college environment with Greek Life or student organizational leadership and development preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, utilizing Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Microsoft Teams, and Canvas.

Housing: Optional on-campus one bedroom apartment in exchange for serving on the Residence Life on-call staff rotation (approximately 3-4 weeks per semester).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires sedentary work that involves walking, standing, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling some of the time and requires the ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.
