Description

Seasonal position lasting from June 2024 - August 2024

Fills position of camp counselors when there is a need, working on an on-call basis. Fulfills all the basic functions of a camp counselor, such as responsibility for a group of children, assisting with camp activities, and observation of camper behavior.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for a group of children, helping each child adjust and grow with other children within the program guidelines
• Follow all program procedures and guidelines in conjunction with the YMCA Day Camp Tracy standard operating procedures
• Demonstrate willingness to participate in all areas of Camp Tracy programming
• Comply with and participate fully in the instruction of swimming, arts and crafts, games, various camp activities, and education programs
• Lead by example and directions, expressing importance of core values
• Communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill level), and provide necessary instruction to children
• Observe camper behavior and assess its appropriateness, enforce relevant safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques

Requirements

• Must be 16 years or older, with a high-school diploma or equivalent (or in-progress)
• First-aid & CPR preferred (or willingness to obtain)
• Must have at least 1 year experience working with children
• High level of schedule flexibility
