Job Details
The Laundry Attendant is responsible for the cleaning, maintaining, and storage of hotel linens. The position is also responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness in the laundry area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sort linens before laundering, pre-treating any stains.
- Wash, dry, and fold linens.
- Store linens in a neat and organized manner; distribute linens within the Housekeeping department as needed.
- Report any mechanical issues with laundry equipment to Maintenance or the Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Assist in linen inventories.
- Work closely with the Housekeeping Supervisor to maintain cleanliness and organization in the Laundry area.
- Notify Housekeeping Supervisor of any supply needs.
- Care for and maintain all company equipment that has been issued.
- Adhere to proper techniques of mixing laundry chemicals.
- Report any lost and found items immediately to the manager to secure.
- Attend to guest requests in a professional manner and follow brand standards at all times.
- Attend all training classes assigned.
- Responsible for achieving and exceeding the guest satisfaction score.
- Assist other team members as directed by the Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & RELATED EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED is preferred.
- Prior experience in housekeeping, laundry, or a similar position is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
- Knowledge of important safety protocols.
- The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- The ability to actively look for ways to help others in the housekeeping department.
- The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules.
- The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and residents.
- The ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
- The ability to prioritize and make rational and appropriate decisions.
- The ability to use cleaning equipment including mops, cleaning supplies, vacuum cleaner, and a cart.
- The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
- The ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- The ability to maintain sufficient hygiene to avoid posting health risks to guests.
- The ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- The ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and guests.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES AND INTERACTIONS WITH OTHERS
This position has no supervisory duties. The Laundry Attendant will be expected to interact with co-workers, guests, and visitors daily.
