**Description**

Christie Clinic's department of Purchasing is seeking a full-time Buyer. Monday - Friday 8am-5pm. The Purchasing department supports all departments within the Christie Clinic organization with product procurement and all related activities, not limited to price negotiation, ordering, receiving, delivery, and returns. We work closely with members of the Warehouse, Mailroom, and Courier departments as well to ensure the most efficient methods for the process.

Minimum of 2 years purchasing experience or inventory management experience is required. Must have a valid Illinois State Driver's License.

Work is performed in a warehouse setting and involves frequent contact with a variety of individuals. Requirements may include traveling to satellite locations and irregular hours.

**Responsibilities:**

* Obtains products, equipment, and services from suppliers at the lowest possible cost, consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source, compliance with processional, regulatory, or accreditation standards and urgency of need.

* Perform price comparisons for all new products (at least 2 vendors). All Capital Expenditure Requests (CER) will route through Materials manager for approval.

* Perform cost analysis on all major product lines at least once every 2 years.

* Actively seek out money saving opportunities on commodities currently purchased.

* Works with fiscal services to understand and/or facilitate utilizing appropriate financing for all purchases.

* Work to understand the timing of how our purchases impact the bottom line.

* Performs all tasks in a manner which recognizes the value of positive customer and team member relationships.

* Proficient in all duties relative to purchasing, including, but not limited to use of procurement software (Paramount Workplace), accounting software (Great Plains), CERs, contracts, maintenance agreements, warehouse related responsibilities (ordering and inventory), and other miscellaneous responsibilities.

* Work with vendors to manage supply chain costs, continuity of supply, capacity flexibility, and delivery performance.

* Monitor metrics to ensure that orders meet established delivery times and comply with invoice terms and contracted price.

* Provide skillful technical assistance in procuring goods and services in departments consistent with institutional guidelines.

* Monitors and enforces procurement related policies and procedures.

* Learn continuously and seek out opportunities to learn new skills.

* Maintain efficiency of daily/weekly responsibilities (Appendix A).

**Preferred Qualifications:**

* Bachelor's Degree in business related field

* Experience in purchasing or inventory management in one or all of the following commodity groups: medical/surgical supplies and equipment, pharmaceuticals, clinical and research supplies, lab supplies, computer systems, and furniture and fixtures.
