Position Summary

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under supervision, landscape or maintain grounds of parks using hand or power tools or equipment performing a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, and sprinkler repair; maintenance, repair and upkeep of park facilities and areas maintained by the Park Division; and perform related work as required.

Job Duties

  • Dispose of trash or waste materials.
  • Operate grounds maintenance equipment; and manual and power tools.
  • Drive trucks or other vehicles to or at work sites.
  • Irrigate lawns, trees, or plants; and flower beds.
  • Trim vegetation.
  • Maintain equipment, vehicles or systems to ensure proper functioning.
  • Cultivate lawns, turf, or gardens.
  • Maintain sports field surfaces.
  • Clean facilities or sites including buildings, restrooms and park pavilions.
  • Remove debris from work sites.
  • Keep time card and other records.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • 18 years of age.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in public grounds or facilities maintenance.


Supplemental Information

WORKING CONDITIONS: Duties require use of physical strength and working outside in inclement weather.
