As an Industrial Mechanic you will need to have a thorough understanding of mechanical engineering principles to help install, troubleshoot, and service the mechanical equipment in the mill. Knowledge of mechanical power transmission components such as couplings, bearings, gearing, and lubrication systems as well as any experience with industrial hydraulic or pneumatic systems, drive shafts, pumps, conveyor systems and air compressors that you have learned in the military will be important skills for this position. Any welding, metal cutting, or fabrication experience would also be a bonus. If you have experience troubleshooting and repairing various engine types, AC/DC drives or knowledge or aptitude to learn electrical, hydraulic, and other mechanical systems should help you in this position.

They will have an outlined training program in place, starting with a safety training program, as safety is something they take very seriously, most training will be on-the-job. Gears, bearings, hydraulics and welding experience are important skills that you will need. They are looking for people who are independent thinkers, with well-developed leadership skills that they can see as future leaders, and a collaborative, team orientated mindset. This will be a Dupont shift that rotates between days and nights. On this shift you work about 15 days/month with 7 straight days off each month at some point.
