Description

We are seeking a dedicated CDL certified Service Technician to work at our Carlsbad location. The Service Technician will play a crucial role in providing propane and refined fuel deliveries in a safe and efficient manner, with a key focus on customer satisfaction. In addition, this unique opportunity will also offer responsibilities with installation, repair, and maintenance of propane/fuel equipment, in a growth-oriented environment.

To ensure success, one must have a willingness to multitask, a passion for customer service and the aspiration to be involved with building a local business. This will require excellent communication skills, a positive attitude in the face of challenges and the ability to execute on identified solutions. Above all else, personal safety and the safety of our customers must take on the highest priority.

This position will support our Pico Propane and Fuels location in Carlsbad, NM.
Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Complies with all city, state, and federal regulations
  • Loads, secures, transports, and delivers propane and fuel to residential/commercial locations; preps, stages, and installs tanks for new customers
  • Performs pre and post-trip inspections on equipment used for the transportation of hazardous materials
  • Maintains and completes accurate records by documenting truck inspections, hours of service, product transported, and miles driven in compliance with all DOT regulations
  • Repairs equipment such as LP Furnaces, Water Heaters, LP appliances and troubleshoots problems with existing equipment
  • Ensures that delivery vehicle receives service according to maintenance schedule; reports larger service needs and mechanical issues to supervisor
  • Upholds excellent company representation standards and equipment presentation
  • Works to exceed customer expectations through effective communication and service
  • Ensures customer safety through prefill inspections, awareness and system testing, as required
  • Provides customers with verbal and written operating instructions for new equipment
  • Maintains equipment and cleans up after the job is complete
  • Records and maintains stock levels
  • Maintains the work vehicle and general maintenance of the vehicle

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Proven work experience as a Fuel Delivery Driver and Licensed Service Technician
  • Advanced knowledge of propane (LP) systems
  • Ability to obtain the NM LP-3 propane certification within twelve (12) months of employment (if not already certified)
  • Ability to obtain the NM Class 5 (service and installation) certification within twelve (12) months of employment (if not already certified)
  • Willingness to learn and grow

  • Ability to solve problems and repair equipment on site
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite

Education, Certification, Licenses Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Class A or B CDL license with hazmat and tanker endorsements required
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Physical, Mental, and Behavioral Requirements:

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by the incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of 10 to 80 lbs. for approximately 90% of the work shift.
  • Ability to regularly climb in and out of a commercial motor vehicle, multiple times per work shift
  • Good hand eye coordination, arm hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to operate equipment is required, including at night.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and arms
  • Must be able to speak and hear
  • Position is subject to pre-hire DOT medical certification requirements and drug and/or alcohol testing, as well as a physical abilities test performed by a company provider
  • Must pass pre-employment screening and background check
  • Position may require working evening hours and weekends as needed
  • Work is normally performed outside where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes and gases is common. airborne particles
