Quanex is looking for a Production Manager, II to join our team located in Cambridge, OH.


The Production Manager plans, leads, organizes, and directs the operations of the shop floor as it relates to production, shipping/receiving, maintenance, and grounds. This incumbent oversees all production, product and process improvements, safety, quality, employee relations, and customer service. The Production Manager is the shop floor liaison with the sales and quality team for all product related issues and improvements in areas of assigned responsibility.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Provide leadership to support the development and implementation of programs.
  • Assures all production orders are completed on schedule and meets quality levels to satisfy the requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Train and develop personnel on manufacturing processes, quality assurance, employee relations, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Work with materials to ensure achievement of proper inventory.
  • Manage weekly production planning forecasts based on customer, Plant leader, Materials Management, Engineering, and Sales.
  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of a quality system to ensures metrics are met and on time deliveries.
  • Work closely with key customers, coordinate quality standards and problem resolution.
  • Manage budgets, control cost, objectives and implements programs.
  • Recommend and justifies capital requests for approval.
  • Recommend and implement changes in production methods and technical changes for efficiency and processes.
  • Interact with customers and manage requirements for service and delivery.
  • Prepare and provides performance reporting.
  • Adhere to all established procedures to maintain confidentiality of PHI and IIHI.


Your Credentials:

  • 7+ years of experience in production, manufacturing, and 3+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Bachelor s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or related is preferred.
  • Knowledge of product offerings, process capabilities, lean manufacturing, and ERP/scheduling.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced, complex, dynamic business environment.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, team building, coaching skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are critical.
  • Highly motivated and results oriented.
  • Proven ability to assume ownership of the process and drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience in using MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).


Salary Range: $88,917 to $133,375 with bonus potential
