6K has a unique position, servicing the Additive Manufacturing industry for both Aerospace and Medical 3D printing with a scrap to premium powder transformation at low cost and little waste. This creates sustainability and security for government divisions, particularly the Department of Defense with boneyards, naval ships, jet fighters all having urgent needs for this capability.

Battery development for the next generation of material is challenging cost and performance being the drivers. Utilizing the same core technology as for Additive Manufacturing, 6K can address battery solutions that others cannot, as well as producing traditional materials in the NMC space. The Department of Energy has a strong focus on these efforts.

6K Inc, located North of Boston in a 17,000sf facility, houses 6 UniMelt plasma systems ranging from small R & D to full scale pilot production units. This technology has the capability to target multiple markets with a broad range of materials.

In addition to the Massachusetts location, 6K Additive has a 4-acre campus in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania that produces Titanium powders and alloys in an ISO9000 facility.

**6K, Inc.** is searching for an experienced **ELECTRO-MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN** who has the technical skills and demonstrated hands-on experience in broad areas of mechanical, electronics and testing. This person will work as part of a small research and development team providing support in the design, integration and testing of various electronic, electrical, and electro-mechanical subsystems.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

As an integrated team member this is a vital role in leading the production of materials through testing and troubleshooting our patented equipment. It is expected that the individual in this position will provide meaningful contributions and will gain exposure to advanced technology while providing hands-on assessments and revisions.

* Assembly, modification, and repair of all facets of production and R&D equipment including:

+ Heavy machinery assembly

+ Process gas lines installation utilizing Swagelok, VCR, AN and other fittings

+ Pipeline assembly featuring ANSI, sanitary, and vacuum fittings

* **AND/OR**

+ Electrical/wiring installation including Field wiring of low voltage instruments, following wiring diagrams and/or the direction of a controls engineer

+ Modifying control cabinets according to the wiring diagrams and/or the direction of a controls engineer

+ Troubleshooting of basic electrical issues

**QUALIFICATIONS**

* Associate Degree in engineering technology, mechanical or electrical engineering or similar degree;

* 3-5 years prior related experience in research or manufacturing environment

* Experience in systematic troubleshooting and resolving technical related issues

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a collegial environment

* Desired but not required

+ Experience building, installing, and/or maintaining PLC based control systems

+ Experience building, installing, and/or maintaining process gas panels

+ Background building and/or maintaining controlled atmosphere process equipment

**Overview:**

You will develop and implement comprehensive EHS management system designed to address site-specific requirements and establish a culture of EHS excellence. As Health, Safety and Environmental Manager, you will be accountable for improving the Health, Safety and Environmental performance by ensuring an exemplary health and safety culture and maintaining a strong focus on the environment. Youll apply your in-depth HSE knowledge to offer advice, guidance, and solutions in the sites organizational compliance with local, state and federal environment health and safety regulations. As a key member of the team, youll design, develop, implement, and monitor occupational health, industrial hygiene and workforce safety procedures, processes, and programs in alignment with policies, instructions, and standards

**Responsibilities:**

* Facilitate dynamic EHS program development in collaboration with construction general contractor during construction/start-up while building the EHS infrastructure for routine operations

* Assemble the appropriate set of multidisciplinary professionals which integrate people, process, and technology to ensure a safe and healthy workplace and minimize environmental impact in a sustainable manner.

* Proactively perform hazard identification, risk assessment and gap analysis of site activities and develop risk-based corrective action plans and programs. Assist/ support selection, development and implementation of Occupational Health Programs which define the site-specific needs in the areas of Medical Surveillance and Employee Health. Establish appropriate employee and contractor medical surveillance for: respiratory protection, hearing conservation

* Support line managers and supervisors by conducting regular training and communicating effectively on all safety awareness programs to ensure plant leaders understand their obligations, liabilities, and compliance requirements in the daily performance of their roles

* Establish employee health services for: injury and illness response and management; workplace claims filing and management; return to work programs; OSHA recordkeeping; PPE management and ergonomics.

* Establish core Safety Compliance Programs to address: fire and life safety, fire alarm impairment, emergency response (both biohazardous and chemical), Lockout Tagout (LOTO), hot work, powered industrial vehicles, fall protection, GHS labeling, and confined space access.

* Manage site EHS budget; estimate, track, and report EHS budget performance and participate in developing long range operating plan for site operational capital and expense budgets.

* Design, develop and implement employee training programs regarding Safe working behaviors and compliance for all employees and contractors within the Plant

* Facilitate HSE risks assessment in collaboration with line managers and encourage the direct involvement of shop floor employees in the assessment process

**Requirements:**

* Bachelors degree in the EHS field; Masters degree preferred.

* At least 5 years of experience with at least 2 years in EHS leadership, Professional certification (e.g., CBSP, CIH, CSP) is highly preferred.

* Maintains safety equipment inventory, performs periodic safety inspections, monitors hazardous waste removal vendors, and may assist in consolidating hazardous wastes (chemical, radioactive, and/or medical). Prepares and monitor safety programs and manuals for new and existing business units. Ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, CDC and other federal and local standards. Ensures compliance with the Hazardous Waste Management program.
