Overview of the Role
PetWise is seeking a Production and Inventory Planner in our Mundelein, IL office. This role will be an integral part of the operations team that manages the supply planning, execution of manufacturing and availability of Finished Goods, Sub-Assemblies and Components.
This role is on-site based in Mundelein, IL.
Duties & Responsibilities
Jointly with the General Manager and VP, Inventory and S&OP, develops focused Manufacturing production plans for all Pet Factory product lines.
Aligns manufacturing and supply availability plans to anticipate and match forecasted and actual demand changes.
Develops cohesive manufacturing and supply plans that take into account regional and seasonal manufacturing and availability variables.
Participates in the development of master planning and purchasing plans including purchase of finished goods, sourcing of components, planning of sub-assemblies, and production processes.
Assists in the communication and interpretation of new and existing product requirements from Product Development and Sales Teams to Production Planning, Sourcing, Quality, and Suppliers.
Evaluates existing Pet Factory vendors on their ability to produce quality products and establish a plan for their continued development or replacement.
Responsible for managing inventory levels across the supply chain. Coordinates with product development, inventory, finance, and suppliers to ensure reliable, cost-efficient delivery of the goods to support demand plans.
Works closely with Product Development, Sales, Inventory, and Finance to ensure that regular, seasonal, or promotional program changes are implemented in a controlled manner and flawlessly executed.
Assists in developing and/or strengthening the Bill of Materials, Work Orders and SAGE systems.
Provides risk analysis & recommends inventory movements or purchases to match production requirements by location.
Assists in annual physical inventory.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor s degree in a related field or 4 years of Inventory Management and Production Planning experience.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong math skills are a must.
Advanced experience in using MS Excel (Knowledge of MS Access is a plus).
- Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams, be open to suggestions and able to collaborate with others to solve problems and offer solutions.
Knowledge of materials management techniques, e.g. MRP, EDI, Capacity Planning.
Strong BOM and SAGE understanding.
Self-starter and self-motivated with the ability to complete work assignments based on broad directions with a minimum of supervision.
Knowledge of consumer products is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist and turn.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.
- Work environment is indoors, majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.

SALARY RANGE:
The base salary range is 75K 85K. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, location, the applicant s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.
