**Buyer** Location **IL, Bolingbrook** Department **Supply Chain** Employment Type **Full Time** **Principle Responsibilities:** * Generate and adjust purchase orders and/or shop work orders to support production schedules. Effectively communicate areas of concern to appropriate departments, individuals and/or suppliers. Input, maintain, and adjust records or transactions to ensure system validity.

* Successfully source the products needed to meet the customers requirements.

* Place purchase orders, expedite and monitor the status of the order through to receipt of product

* Notify supplier of any quality issues and work closely with the quality and logistics teams

* Interface with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales, and Suppliers to resolve quality and/or delivery issues, support new product introduction and subcontracting opportunities.

* Resolve receiving discrepancies, invoice errors and coordinate adjustments on open orders as necessary.

* Maintain purchasing files, logs, KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and related records as needed.

* Consistent with Cranes Operational Excellence focus, participate in Kaizen events that will eliminate waste and result in significant benefits (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth) throughout the Supply Chain.

* Drive continuous improvement in the supply base by communicating objective performance metrics, focused on lead time reduction, on-time delivery improvement, quality improvement, and cost reduction.

* Update Performance and KPI Boards daily. Identify root causes of misses, and implement countermeasures as needed.

* Obtain competitive bids, analyze costs and negotiate/award contracts to vendors on the basis of total costs to the company commensurate with financial risks, quality standards, and delivery capabilities.

* Support Kennesaw Procurement team as needed.

* BS/BA in business or technical field is highly desired.

* Certification in APICS and/or ISM is highly desired.

* Minimum of 3 years of experience in Supply Chain related role.

* Self-starter. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Lean/Six Sigma certification (black belt or green belt) is desired.

* Excellent analytical, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact based decisions. Includes a strong working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and scheduling software.

* Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional teams in a dynamic work environment.

* Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships and influence up, down, and across organizational lines.

* Excellent attention to detail.

* Extremely high since of urgency, with an understanding of how procurement affects upstream and downstream departments.

* Direct experience with lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Leadership, 5S, etc). Lean/Six Sigma certification (black belt or green belt) is desired.

* Self-starter, capable of understanding the process to know what is required to be done without being given direction.

* The ability to comprehend the supplier qualification processes and supplier performance metrics.

* Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional teams in a dynamic work environment.

* Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships and influence up, down, and across organizational lines.
