Position Summary


As an Energy Efficiency Program Manager, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing energy efficiency programs aimed at reducing energy consumption and promoting sustainable practices. You will work closely with clients, utility companies, government agencies, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive strategies for energy conservation and cost savings. Your role will involve overseeing program development, tracking performance metrics, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will play a key role in identifying new opportunities for energy efficiency initiatives and fostering partnerships to support program objectives.


Location


Office is in Naperville, Illinois. In-person or hybrid work environment. Typical work activities will occur in an office setting but may also include visiting project sites, attending meetings, or participating in community events. This role may involve occasional travel to client locations, conferences, or industry events.


Position Key Responsibilities


  • Program Development: Lead the design and development of energy efficiency programs tailored to the needs of clients and target markets. Define program goals, objectives, and performance metrics in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with utility companies, government agencies, industry partners, and community organizations to support program implementation and outreach efforts.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop strategic plans and timelines for program execution, including budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management. Identify opportunities for program expansion and enhancement based on market trends and stakeholder feedback.
  • Project Management: Coordinate program activities, including energy audits, retrofits, and incentive programs, to achieve energy savings targets and deliverables. Monitor project timelines, budgets, and performance metrics to ensure adherence to program goals and objectives.
  • Technical Expertise: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, best practices, and industry standards related to energy efficiency and sustainability. Provide technical guidance and support to clients, contractors, and program staff on energy-saving measures and technologies.
  • Marketing and Outreach: Develop marketing materials, outreach campaigns, and educational resources to promote awareness of energy efficiency programs and incentives. Engage with stakeholders through workshops, events, and presentations to drive participation and adoption.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report on program data, including energy usage, savings, and cost-effectiveness. Prepare regular progress reports, performance dashboards, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure program compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and contractual obligations. Implement quality assurance measures to verify the effectiveness and integrity of energy efficiency measures and installations.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise program staff, consultants, and contractors involved in program implementation and delivery. Provide mentorship, training, and support to enhance team performance and professional development.


Position Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in energy efficiency program management, renewable energy, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of energy conservation principles, building systems, and energy-efficient technologies.
  • Experience with program development, implementation, and evaluation in a collaborative, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Proficiency in project management tools, data analysis software, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage budgets, and deliver results on time and within budget.
  • Understanding of energy policy, regulatory frameworks, and incentive programs at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) are desirable.
