Located in Redmond WA, SystImmune Inc. is a bio-pharmaceutical company focused on the treatment of cancer through developing novel therapeutic multi-specific antibodies, as well as antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). Our objective is to create biologics that work through systematic intervention on the solid tumor micro-environment, to either directly attack the tumor and/or to activate the immune system to attack the tumor.


Summary


The Sr. Associate Scientist/Scientist is responsible for the development and optimization of the cell line development platform for production of biotherapeutics. This position requires broad expertise, and the capability of contributing to both drug discovery and process development. The position requires strong interest in bench work and hands-on mammalian cell culture experiences.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Primary job emphasis focusing on CHO cell line development and upstream bioreactor process development.
  • Design and prepare CHO cell expression vector.
  • Perform CHO cell transfection, selection, single cell sorting, single cell clone selection and characterization to generate high yield cell line for manufacture.
  • Work closely with other members of Cell Science team and downstream Process Development team to develop and execute multiple projects under tight timelines.
  • Write and review Standard Operating Procedures and reports to support technical transfer and regulatory filing.
  • Collaborate with R&D and the manufacturing team based in China. Plan time to accommodate meetings and technical support as needed.
  • Working weekend and holiday shifts as needed is required. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Ph.D.; MS; BS in Cell Biology or a related filed; 5+ years (MS); 7+ years (BS) of relevant pharmaceutical or biotech experience
  • Extensive hand-on experience in mammalian cell culture, cell banking and storage.
  • Hands on experience in molecular biology techniques including but not limited to cloning, DNA plasmid preparation, sequence analysis and transfection et al.
  • Experience in flow cytometry and single cell sorting is highly preferred.
  • Strong scientific background of recombinant protein expression, cell line development,

cellular metabolism, and media optimization.

  • Familiar with software including MS office, Geneious, FlowJo and JMP et al.


Work Environment

  • This individual will work in a cell culture laboratory alongside other scientists and in a standard business office with desktop business equipment and a moderate noise level.

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time. This individual must be able to confidently handle liquid nitrogen cell storage tank independently (deposit, extract et al, training will be provided if needed) and moving equipment/boxes up to 50 pounds.
