Compass High School is currently seeking a School Counselor to join its faculty for the 2024-2025 academic year. As a non-profit private school, we specialize in educating students with learning differences. Our school provides teachers with a unique and rewarding opportunity to work with complex learners. Our mission is to offer a supportive and individualized program that helps students achieve their full academic potential. We focus on learning strategies, social competence, and self-advocacy to provide students with the knowledge and self-confidence they need to succeed. Compass has a small school community, and our faculty members work collaboratively to promote cohesion and ensure the best possible outcomes for our students. This position will be located at our campus in Belmont, starting in the fall of 2024.


Position Overview: The successful candidate will have experience working with adolescents, specifically those with various learning differences and processing disorders. We are seeking a counselor to provide individual support and guidance around social skills. Our students have few behavioral issues and need the most support in their social-emotional growth and the management of relationships. Experience teaching students with learning differences is required.



Essential Responsibilities:

Have the ability to plan an individualized program that enhances social development.

Provide support to social-emotional learning and growth.

Aid in the support of conflict-resolution, mediation, and decision-making.

Support students experiencing anxiety, depression or other mental health difficulties.

Meet with various stakeholders to support student learning and overall well-being.

Participate in regular staff meetings, as required.

Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Finds resonance with Compass High School s mission and philosophy.

Bachelor s Degree required.

Master s Degree in Counseling and/or PPS certification preferred.

Experience working in a high school setting as a Guidance Counselor or similar role.

Experience working with students with specific learning disabilities.

Knowledge of current principles, techniques, and objectives of school counseling, educational philosophy, and psychology.

Excellent communication skills: clear, articulate, professional in speaking and writing.

Is an enthusiastic self-starter with a can-do attitude.
