Job Summary/Overview

Receiving Supervisor directs & coordinates through departmental leaders, activities relative to the warehouse operations. This position is responsible for continuous and efficient output in desired quality and quantity. Ensures objectives are met relative to safety, quality, and delivery.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Observe work while being performed and stop operations deemed unsafe.
  • Conduct regular Toolbox Safety Meetings with all direct reports to review safety issues and improve safe working conditions.
  • Investigate all incidents and accidents involving direct reports or reporting departments and make recommendations for corrective action.
  • Initiate and perform evaluations of the manning and physical arrangements of the work station (methodizing) on and existing operations to help assure maximum output.
  • Train department personnel to be technically and professionally competent.
  • Assist with managing labor problems, complaints, resources, etc. exhibiting a high degree of integrity and discretion in dealing with confidential data or information.
  • Participate in fair and consistent problem or complaint resolution and answer suggestions as assigned.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety policies and procedures. Ability to speak effectively with fellow employees, giving instructions or relaying messages.
  • Ability to understand and follow written procedures, to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form, i.e. time sheets, production boards.
  • Direct and lead the implementation of lean practices in the warehouse including Lean Business Systems, Kata/Kaizen, and Training within Industries.
  • Develop corrective actions, as required, to meet customer needs and objectives of the corporation.
  • Direct the development of organization and plans that are consistent and adequate for attainment of warehouse personnel objectives.
  • Ensure that operations conform to local, state and federal government regulations and manage an ongoing proactive Environmental, Health and Safety program.
  • Enter all receiving from packing lists into ERP.
  • Inspect all incoming shipments.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.


Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Assure compliance within the departments(s) concerning departmental policies and practices.
  • Maintain the quality of standards and level of standards.
  • Where existing standards are no longer suitable to the jobs for which they have been develop, recommend revisions.
  • Only limited direct supervision should be required.
  • Objectives and assignments are frequently developed through individual initiative in addition to being determined by plant needs of assignment by plant manager.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Maintains a collaborative, team relationship with direct reports, peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the group s achievement of goals and to help foster a positive work environment
  • Demonstrates a friendly, responsive, service-minded attitude to all internal and external customers
  • Demonstrates a willingness to accept change and new approaches, including additional responsibilities
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Sets work plans and considers priorities for completing assignments in order to meet deadlines


Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree with equal emphasis on Business, and/or three or more years of experience in supervision in warehouse setting preferred.
  • Must possess technical skills such as: blueprint reading, work measurement, and using precision measuring instruments.
  • Good organizational, planning, and communication skills required.
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing preferred.

Work Requirements

Must be able to lift, push, pull 40lbs.
