About this Position

The Montana Department of Commerce Director's Office provides centralized finance, budget, communications, marketing, legal, IT and HR services and resources for the Department Divisions and attached boards.

The Marketing Director reports to the Chief Marketing Officer at the Montana Department of Commerce.

The Marketing Director will have marketing and business decision making experience and provides leadership and direction for the promotion of Montana as a place to visit and do business. This position coordinates the work of the Department's external marketing agencies that provide data and research, creative, advertising and web services. The Marketing Director is instrumental in the ideation and pitching of campaign ideas and leads media production planning and coordination with marketing agencies and campaign execution for the Department. This position is responsible for the development and management of publications that promote Montana. The Marketing Director works with stakeholders from the public and private sectors and is responsible for the management of programs and strategies that facilitate collaboration between the Department and its stakeholders to enhance the promotion of the state. The Marketing Director supervises the International Marketing Manager and Multimedia Manager.

What are we looking for?

Education and Experience:

A bachelor's degree in marketing or relevant degree.

5+ years applicable experience & 1+ years supervisory experience.

Scope of work development and management experience.

National advertising strategy and placement experience.

Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Bonus if candidate has media production experience.

This position allows for a hybrid work schedule from a remote location within the State of Montana. Weekly travel to Helena offices will be required.
