Job Details
1st Major Area of Responsibility-General Maintenace and the Facilities:
- Collaborate closely with Maintenance associates and team members, assisting in various maintenance tasks as required.
- Act as a knowledgeable resource for complex technical inquiries, offering guidance, training, and mentorship to less experienced Maintenance Associates.
- Maintain accurate records of daily equipment usage, parts dispensed, and work orders using maintenance software, facilitating the identification of replacement parts and estimation of repair costs.
- Interpret and comprehend electrical and mechanical prints proficiently.
- Install, repair, and troubleshoot various electrical components, including transformers, pressure sensors, flow meters, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Conduct daily rounds for Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance if applicable and collaborate with external vendors for facility and equipment repairs.
- Provide assistance for wastewater treatment responsibilities as required, based on facility needs.
- Monitor all operational areas and provide suggestions for cost reduction initiatives.
- Assist operators in optimizing equipment performance and promptly identify, document, and address equipment defects.
- Ensure compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, verifying stored energy isolation using appropriate testing equipment.
- Complete daily checklists, door inspections, and line walks to maintain operational integrity.
- Promote the implementation of 5S principles within the maintenance department.
- Perform repairs on facility infrastructure, piping, equipment, hoses, nozzles, pressure guns, etc.
- Safely operate forklifts and scissor lifts as necessary.
- Conduct welding and fabrication repairs to ensure equipment functionality and safety.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using all fabrication equipment, including lathes, mills, and welding machines.
- Provide knowledgeable insights into mechanical prints and identify parts requiring ordering.
- Execute advanced preventative maintenance tasks such as oiling, greasing, lubricating, belt changes, valve replacements, and minor adjustments.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of all equipment within the production area.
- Offer expertise in refrigeration systems and conduct system walkthroughs.
- Demonstrate educated knowledge of building utilities, including air compressors, electrical systems, and water systems.
- Assist and coordinate special projects aimed at reducing costs, driving process improvement, ensuring safety, and enhancing quality.
- Support the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodology, contributing to autonomous maintenance initiatives.
2nd Major Area of Responsibility-Utilize CMMS Systems:
- Perform xx tasks within the CMMS system to facilitate maintenance operations.
- Enter work hours accurately into the system to maintain comprehensive records.
- Complete work orders and preventive maintenance (PM) tasks within the CMMS to ensure timely completion.
- Generate work orders for identified equipment defects to initiate necessary repairs.
- Audit existing PM schedules and provide feedback for improvement to enhance maintenance efficiency.
- Request all required replacement parts and equipment through the CMMS to sustain uninterrupted production.
- Conduct inventory control activities to manage spare parts and equipment inventory levels effectively.
- Execute and assess current PM tasks, offering feedback to the Maintenance Manager or team leader for optimization.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using eMaint, leveraging its features to streamline maintenance processes.
- Research and develop new PM procedures to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
All other duties and/or responsibilities as requested or required:
- Adhere to and implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Food (SQF), and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) policies.
- Prepare and communicate end-of-shift downtime reports, detailing any equipment malfunctions or production interruptions.
- Uphold and comply with inventory control Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring accurate tracking and management of inventory levels.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two (3) years of related mechanical or electrical experience and/or training.
- Manufacturing industry experience.
- Proficiency in understanding and following written or spoken English instructions.
- Capability to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English.
- Ability to work with various food products including pork, dairy, soy, wheat, egg, shellfish, nut products, and fish.
- Capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and apply advanced mechanical and electrical technical skills.
- Proficiency in basic problem-solving techniques.
- Knowledge of welding stainless steel.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Understanding of electrical concepts, including the proper use of test equipment, comprehension of schematic symbols and diagrams, and wiring principles.
- Sound mechanical knowledge, encompassing machine guarding, drive belt installation and alignment, seal replacements, and related tasks.
- Competence in pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including the ability to replace and repair components, check valves, and assemble filters.
- Familiarity with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) I/O troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) troubleshooting and programming.
