**Responsibilities**

In this position, you will protect and guard all assets, staff, patients, and visitors in and around the Ronald Reagan & Santa Monica UCLA Medical Centers, Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Medical Plazas and the Center for Health Sciences. Security Officers perform regular patrols and document all routine activities, incidents, and may perform in a lead capacity and other duties as assigned. Additionally, you will enforce all policies and state laws, and follow all guidelines including state regulatory agency requirements.

**Qualifications**

Incumbent must possess and maintain

1. Current certification in a California Guard Card, D.O.J. Chemical Agent.

2. Must have BLS Certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.

3. Must have a current and valid drivers license.

Ability to see aspects of public relations in all facets of the job and the ability to understand the effects of actions on the entire organization. Ability to recognize the importance of dealing diplomatically with the public, and the importance of a good public appearance. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with security employees, police officers, and Medical Center, RNPH, Medical Plaza and CHS employees. Physical ability to handle various intervention incidents, including patient restraints and violent subjects. Demonstrated ability to assess problematic or emergency situations and plan/execute an appropriate solution based on established guidelines or policies. Knowledge of applicable geography in order to expedite calls and to be an effective information source. Knowledge of penal and radio codes and language used in radio communications. Physically able to perform sustained foot patrols, prolonged standing, lifting patients, and restraining patients or prisoners as necessary. Visual and hearing ability to detect and report unusual circumstances quickly and accurately. Ability to complete continual training classes as required (training provided).
