Summary

Precision cancer interception is a new paradigm that actively combats cancer at earlier points via personalized prevention, screening and treatment based on a person's unique biological and behavioral characteristics. Moffitt Cancer Center is a world leader in precision cancer interception research. To advance this area, Moffitt created a cutting-edge research facility, Population Engagement and Research Laboratory (PEARL) This manager will manage the PEARL facility in addition to overseeing research staff that will work in this area.

The Manager of Non-Therapeutic Research Office will be responsible for the daily research operations for the Population Engagement and Research Laboratory (PEARL).

Management expectations include recruiting, training, employee development, performance management, coaching, and mentoring. Takes the lead or participates in the development and execution of training/mentoring programs, quality improvement processes and other projects, including the development of SOPs, to assure high quality non-therapeutic research throughout the Institution.

* Someone with scientific or operational expertise in the area of cancer interception

Responsibilities:

* Work with Management/Leadership team as needed to develop workflows, streamline operations and support staff/faculty

* Provide scientific and technical consultation to investigators conducting non-therapeutic work in PEARL

* Oversee a team of staff performing non-therapeutic work in PEARL

* Ensure that PEARL users are current on relevant trainings

* Review applications for use of the PEARL facility

* Work closely with donors and the foundation to generate additional funds

* Develop strong relationships with?internal and external customers?and facilitate clear communication

Credentials and Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required with a minimum of 5 years of research experience in clinical research and/or observational-based studies with at least 2 years of supervisory and/or leadership experience. Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.

* Experience must include coordinating and managing efforts of research staff and closely interacting with internal and external health care personnel (e.g., MDs, RNs, PharmDs) to satisfactorily conduct research studies.

* Working knowledge of policies and procedures that govern clinical and biorepository research

* Strong knowledge of clinical trial coordination, regulatory compliance, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)

* Must have the ability to work well under the pressure of meeting mandatory deadlines; must have good organizational skills and careful attention to detail.

* Must have the ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple work assignments across a research team

* Ability to function independently and as a member of a large team; motivate people to achieve excellence; work with multiple faculty and staffing levels and with multiple business units to achieve departmental goals

* Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

* Ability to train personnel to implement rigorous research protocols

* Working knowledge and experience in service costing and financial management for a staff team

* Preferred qualifications:

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent problem-solving skills; proficient computer skills (i.e. PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)

* Excellent relationship-building skills

* Ability to interpret/translate shared information and communicate to the NTRO leadership

* Able to multitask and work independently with minimal guidance

* Exceptional listening skills and ability to relate to, influence, and coach employees

* Demonstrated experience developing and/or using technical solutions to solve problems and enhance efficiencies

* Experience managing multiple projects
