Job Overview:

  • The Quality Manager is responsible for leading a team of quality professionals and overseeing all aspects of the organization's quality management system. This includes developing and implementing quality policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. The Quality Manager leads quality improvement initiatives, such as root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and continuous improvement projects. They collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality issues, drive process optimization, and enhance product quality and customer satisfaction. Additionally, the Quality Manager conducts audits, both internally and externally, to assess compliance and identify opportunities for improvement. They play a critical role in fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the organization, promoting ethical conduct, integrity, and professionalism in all quality-related activities.

Responsibilities:

  • It is the responsibility of the Quality Manager to act as a quality interface between customer needs, supplier issues, and production concerns in our Just-In-Time production Environment. Lead by example to develop, coach, and manage all members of the Quality department team to meet overall company and quality department objectives
  • QM Systems - Responsible for development, certification, and maintenance of QM System based on ISO 9001, and IATF 16949 requirements. Responsible for the development, certification, and maintenance of Environmental and Energy Management Systems based on ISO 14001/ ISO 50001 requirements.
  • Improvement plan: Lead/ and Coordination of activities related to quality topics (KPIs) for the compilation of continuous improvement plans in the plant, to ensure competitiveness through permanent improvements. Proactively identify risks and opportunities, prioritize problems, and help staff identify and solve problems on time, including hands-on troubleshooting activities.
  • Customer service/quality of service: Recognize and take charge of quality and service problems, suggest solutions with all the people involved, and ensure they are carried out, to achieve the highest customer satisfaction
  • Supplier quality and development: Lead and coordinate activities related to the development and support of suppliers to ensure quality products are received. Ensure implementation of corrective actions and verify their effectiveness for issues found with supplier parts
  • Product quality: Supervision of quality performance in production. Recognition of quality and service problems as well as the preparation of suggestions for solutions, implementation of corrective measures, and verification of their effectiveness to achieve the "goal of zero failures" and ensure product quality. Carry out inspections of characteristics required for documentation (SPC or critical points) and introduction of corrective measures in case of deviations. You have an obligation to cooperate to prevent defective parts from reaching our customers and therefore the right to stop the production and delivery of defective and possibly defective components/parts to the customer
  • Audits: Lead in planning and completing internal audits and external audits as well as product and layered process audits, to verify the effectiveness of the Quality Management System recognize possible deviations, and initiate corrective measures.
  • Report: Frequent information to Management and the Regional Office of Quality Management on actions related to quality, operating figures, and trends, as well as quality costs. Quality cost monitoring with the introduction of precise measures for quality cost reduction. Quality KPIs reporting to the plant manager and regional quality manager.
  • Training: Carry out training to promote awareness of Quality and Energy/ Environment systems at all levels.
  • Management: Manage with quality objectives and motivate to develop potential and skills in the quality team.
  • Lead or participate in APQP/ PPAP approval process for new products and Engineering changes to ensure on-time customer approval of supplier parts
  • Ensure on-time maintenance, calibration, and MSA of all measuring equipment on the floor and in the CMM room.
  • Lead or assist with warranty returns, reporting, and analysis. Ensure on-time response to customers for warranty claims.
  • Lead Creation, implementation, improvement, and control of documentation/Processes for the facility
  • Support production, Logistics Maintenance, and other department activities as required in the plant.
  • Participate in the training of new employees and ongoing skill development.
  • Perform all duties safely and environmentally.
  • Management Representative for Quality and Customer related matters.
  • Lead in driving quality KPIs within the US5 facility
  • Can stop production, upon notifying the Supervisor and Plant Manager of safety-related matters requiring immediate attention.
  • Can stop production, upon notifying the Supervisor for quality-related nonconforming matters requiring immediate repair.
  • Show commitment and assume responsibility for following and complying with the requirements established in the Integrated Management System, based on the standards, for the implementation and follow-up of the procedures established in the system, taking into account the policy and objectives for these to be carried out.
  • Fulfill the tasks related to the position (among others, perform and contribute to activities to improve the (general) work environment. In addition, taking into account the necessary activities of industrial safety, environmental protection, and energy management that affect the field of work).
  • Support Maintaining of ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 processes
  • Ensure 5s & Respect Austin facility.
  • Cooperation with Human Resources in dealing with personal matters
  • Ensure conformance to all company and legislative policies and procedures and Rules of Conduct.
  • Ensuring compliance to and participation in IATF 16949 and CSR (Customer Specific Requirements) compliance & ISO 14001 certification.
  • Use or wear PPE as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Profile Required:

  • Postsecondary Education in a related field (Industrial engineering or Mechanical Engineering)
  • 5+ years of working experience in a Quality Manager capacity in the automotive industry
  • IATF16949/CSR (Customer Specific Requirements) ISO 14001, Auditor
  • Official CMM and Core Tools training/knowledge
  • Tier 1 knowledge
  • Six Sigma, Lean Management, 5S or equivalent
  • Experience with developing and maintaining IATF/ISO14001/ISO50001 systems
  • Injection Molding and Assembly
  • GD&T, Blueprint Reading &SPC experience
  • Experience with Tesla Quality Management systems: CQMS, EBSC
