This OpportunityWSP is currently initiating a search for a System Operator I for our Long Island City, NY office. Be involved in projects with our Mobility Operations Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client s objectives and solves their challenges.Your ImpactOperate various computer-based traffic & freeway management systems to manage incidents on roadways and improve traffic conditionsMonitor roadways via CCTV surveillance cameras and detection systemsMonitor all Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices and computer equipment associated with the systemSkilled with the operation of all ITS equipment, computers and software associated with a particular systemUtilize ITS equipment for incident management and the improvement of travel time, safety, and quality of lifeCheck the accuracy and validity of the messages displayed on all Variable Message Signs (VMS)Enter incident information into computer using Traffic Management System (TMS) SoftwareFamiliarity with the roadways and understand the purpose and location of each VMS and CCTV devicePerform routine daily checklist of all ITS and control room equipment and troubleshoot system failures and help maintain equipment ticket databaseUse standard operating procedures to detect, dispatch, monitor and document roadway incidentsConfer with Joint Transportation Management Center (JTMC) partners as well as adjacent NYSDOT Region TMCs to coordinate resources for incidents that may affect regional travelWork with contractors and consulting firms to maintain the systemExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and proceduresProven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policiesWho You AreRequired QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalentOral and written communicationComputer/Software including MS Office applications, spreadsheets and databasesPublic, internal and external relations (works well with internal, external and partner groups and individuals)Analytical and organizational skillsAll candidates must successfully pass a NYSP Criminal History Background Check.WSP Benefits:WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee s career.
