Computer Aided Design Drafter


Job Details

The ideal candidate will work with design engineers to effectively tweak old designs and create new designs for machines and their accommodating parts. This role is desk-oriented but may go on the floor occasionally. This client utilizes Inventor and CAD, mostly in 3D but there are 2D capabilities as well.



Responsibilities

  • Will be designing/drafting concepts related to machine building- could be designing components to the machine (screens, conveyors, etc.) or machine assemblies (how these two pieces fit together)
  • Must have fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, and be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in electronic, written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • You should be proficient in: Blueprint Reading, CAD/CAM Software, and Product Design
  • Designs and creates detail drawings for screens and feeders for use in manufacturing by performing the following duties
  • Reviews current drawing library for like-drawings
  • Confers closely with supervisor and sales department regarding approval or desired changes to design
  • Performs all calculations for required specifications



Qualifications

  • CAD software, 3D mostly used in this role. Needs to have AutoCAD or Inventor
  • 1+ years of product design experience (preferably in machine building)
  • Must be able to go on a fabrication/manufacturing floor if needed and will be around traditional blue collar workers, along with other designers
